Gearing up for our concert

Hello friends!

At the beginning of the season, we held auditions for our GGDC Ensemble inviting all past and current dancers to take part in this special commemorative season. We were overwhelmed with joy and pride to see so many dancers audition culminating into an amazing Ensemble of more than 30 dancers of all ages! Wow!

Rehearsals began in early December and the dancers have been very busy learning Gary's choreography. The jazz and modern rehearsals are led by Ms. Tiffany and Ms. Cindy has been busy teaching Gary's tap pieces. Resetting works is not always easy and we are grateful for all the work Tiffany and Cindy are doing (thank you, ladies!). A plus is that many of our former students have at one time or another performed Gary's works, so they have been a great value during rehearsals in helping the newer dancers learn the choreography, as well. The process has been, and continues to be, an amazing, supportive, positive and warm environment watching everyone working together... you can feel the love for Gary in the air! Gary's signature works in jazz and tap will be highlighted during the March 22 concert.

In addition to our GGDC Ensemble dancers, we are excited to have eight guest artists (former students and colleagues), performing solos, choreographing new works and playing music. These artists wish to honor Gary in their own way, sharing their love for a friend and mentor who greatly inspired them.

The Gary Geis Tribute Concert will be held at the Clark State Performing Arts Center on Wednesday, March 22, 2017, at 7:30 p.m. Let's honor together the legacy that Gary leaves behind and celebrate his life, his artistic impact and inspiration that he brought to each of our lives and to our community.

Keep dancing!
