Audition Announcement!

​The audition is free, and there are no additional fees to perform with GGDC/GGDC2.  Company dancers pay a set price for their monthly classes at Gary Geis School of Dance, and are asked to purchase any required dancewear (NOT costumes) that they will use for company pieces during the season.

All auditionees should be at least 10 years old and at an intermediate or advanced level of ballet.  GGDC and Apprentice dancers (age 13+) should have prior jazz or modern experience.

​

The audition will consist of a ballet class, followed by jazz and/or modern combinations.  New students, planning to enroll in classes at Gary Geis School of Dance, are welcome and encouraged, to audition!

GGDC consists of upper level Intermediate, and Advanced dancers, and is divided into Apprentices, and Company Members.  Many of these dancers are also en pointe, although it is not a requirement.  GGDC dancers and Apprentices take a minimum of 4 classes per week (depending on their class level) and many take up to 7 or 8 classes per week in addition to rehearsals for upcoming performances.

GGDC2 consists of true Intermediate level dancers.  These dancers take a minimum of 3 classes per week

(2 ballet, 1 jazz or tap) in addition to rehearsals for upcoming performances.

In addition to weekly classes, dancers may rehearse on Mondays, Fridays, Saturdays, and Sundays, depending on company placement and casting for upcoming performances.​

 

What to Wear for the Audition:

Ladies:

Black Leotard

Pink or Skin Tone Convertible Ballet Tights (worn under the leotard)

Pink or Skin Tone Ballet Slippers

Pointe Shoes if Applicable

Hair pulled back into a bun or other ballet hairstyle

Black Jazz Shorts or Pants (for Jazz/Modern Portion)

Black Jazz Shoes​

Men:

Solid Black or White T-Shirt

Black Dance Tights/Leggings

White Socks

Black, White, or Skin Tone Ballet Slippers

Black Jazz Shoes
