Saturday, September 24, 2022
10am - 1:15pm
Auditions for GGDC and GGDC2 will be held on Saturday, August 20, 2022 from Noon-3pm at the Gary Geis School of Dance. Audition registration will begin at 11:15am and dancers may be released as early as 2pm.
Supplementary auditions for GGDC and GGDC2 will be held on Saturday, September 24, 2022 from 10am - 1:15pm for dancers who were unable to attend the August audition date. Dancers attending this audition date should complete the online audition form by Friday, September 23.
There are no age guidelines to audition, however, dancers should be at an Intermediate or Advanced level of ballet. Jazz, Modern, and Tap experience is preferred, but not required. The audition is free, and there are no additional fees to perform with GGDC/GGDC2. Company dancers pay a set price for their monthly classes at Gary Geis School of Dance, and are asked to purchase any required dancewear (NOT costumes) that they will use during the season. New students are welcome, and encouraged, to audition!
The audition will consist of a full ballet class, followed by jazz and modern combinations. The September audition will consist of a full jazz class, followed by a full ballet class. After auditions, dancers will receive their company placement, as well as their class recommendations for the 2022-2023 season. In addition to weekly classes, dancers may rehearse on Fridays, Saturdays, and Sundays, depending on company placement and casting for upcoming performances.
GGDC consists of our upper level Intermediate, and Advanced dancers, and is divided into Trainees, Apprentices, and Company Members. Many of these dancers are also en pointe, although it is not a requirement. GGDC dancers and Apprentices take a minimum of 5 classes per week (depending on their class level) and many take up to 8 or 9 classes per week in addition to rehearsals for upcoming performances. GGDC Trainees take a minimum of 3 classes per week, although many take up to 5 or 6 per week in addition to rehearsals for upcoming performances.
GGDC2 consists of our true Intermediate level dancers and can, at times, be combined with the Trainee level of GGDC. These dancers take a minimum of 3 classes per week, although many take up to 5 or 6 per week in addition to rehearsals for upcoming performances.
