Ballroom Instructors
Maria Jones
Maria Ilyina Jones was born and raised in Brezhnev City, Russia in the Republic of Tatarstan. She started dance at the age of six, attending the most prestigious school in her republic (STS). At this school she studied under renowned and demanding teachers such as Takhir Mavlyautdinov, Luidmila Negrash, and the several time champions of Russia and Europe Peter Chebotarev, Alexander Melnikov/Irina Solomatina and Victor Nikovskyi/ Larisa Davydova. She went on to become a Four-time champion in the Republic of Tatarstan out of hundreds of couples, as well as attending the grandest championship in Moscow “The Russian Open” and World Championship in Cervia, Italy. In addition to Maria’s career as a ballroom dancer she attended Kazan State University where she majored in linguistics with a focus in English/German.
Ultimately, it was Maria’s love for learning and advancement that brought her to the United States. In 2007 Maria moved to New York City where she began teaching international ballroom to children and earned her teaching certificate in American Bronze. While in New York Maria met her husband Evan Jones, himself a ballroom dancer. Together they collaborated with the various styles and methods to expand their vision of ballroom dance.
Having the opportunity to work with long-time friends at the Gary Geis School of Dance Evan and Maria moved to Springfield, Ohio. Their dream is to have a ballroom school that promotes the essence of dance to suite the needs of every age interested in dancing ballroom.
Evan Jones
Evan Jones started dancing at the age of sixteen at the Gary Geis School of Dance where he took ballet, jazz and tap classes. In 2008 Evan moved to New York City to pursue a degree in International Relations at Marymount Manhattan College. While in New York Evan pursued his interest in dance and studied at Stepping Out Studios where he took classes in American and International Dance. He is excited to be back in his birthplace of Springfield, OH working with his wife Maria and his dearest friends Gary Geis and Mark Cummings to create a Ballroom program that is suitable for every age.
